Anders Wigenstam

“I was born on Februari 23, 1979 in Piteå. During my upbringing I lived in a small village in the midland of Norrland called Glommersträsk. My musical carrier started as for so many else with the recorder in lower school followed by the trumpet which led to participation in various orchestras. I was actually quite good at playing the trumpet but after a few years I got tired of it and wanted to try something else (cooler). After a few hesitating guitar accords I chose the drums and have never regretted my choice since then.

Through time I have tried many different styles. I have played in gospel choirs, different anthem choirs, participated in a chorus show and played in a blues band in Umeå called The Rock. Then one day when I went to Piteå to listen to Laudamus giving a concert I learned that they were looking for a new drummer. Since metal has always been close to heart for me I contacted the guys and got an audition…

I don’t really have a favourite drummer but I have listened a lot to Louie Weaver (Petra), the drummers in Whitecross, Ian Haugland (Europe) and lately Jason Rullo (Symphony X) and Casey Grillo (Kamelot).  As for the rest I listen to most kind of music but I prefer the heavier kind.”
